Business Card For Freelance Writers Useful Guidelines

When you work in the freelance world, you need to use all strategies of marketing available to promote yourself. If you work for a company it is easy; the company will bring you the clients, promote your service and you will get clear instructions and get paid at the end of the month. When you work on your own, you need to take care of everything. To promote your services is very important especially if you spend a lot of time online, and not in business meetings. Making a business card can help you gain new clients and make contacts even when you don’t have enough time for conversation.

  • First of all, make sure your business card reflects the exact kind of services that you offer. If you write academic or medical articles is not the same as writing fictional e-books. The design should be either serious or funny and creative, but never make a colored fancy business card if you want to introduce yourself as business writer.
  • Take care what you write on it. You need to find some simple words that can describe your services and allow clients to make a clear idea about your content. Do not use complicated formulas or fill it with writing; nobody will stay to read everything you are putting there. Your name, contact, service description and a motto or something similar is more than enough.
  • Use a good material. If you just print a few words on a normal paper you can not say you created a business card. It needs to be done on good material, high-quality one, that will say about you that you are professional and you take your clients seriously.
  • Find a specialist. If you are not talented enough to make it by yourself, there are plenty of designers or websites that are making customized business card and they adapt it according to your requests. Even if you pay a little bit more, at least you know that your card will send a good message to your future clients.
  • Take care when you offer it. Do not go around spreading everywhere business cards; you will look like you are desperate to convince others to buy your services. Offer them only to people that seem interested to have a future conversation with you or to people that work in the same niche. It is as important to make contacts as it is to find clients.
